Built in 1867 this terrace has great potiential for restoration withlow energy use. Reinstating the rain water management and lowering ground level to the rear are the first steps towards resolving the damp problems. Removal of lead pipes and installing a water meter. Asperation are for a superinsulated hempcrete roof, hempcrete render, high performance triple glassed windows and a solar hot water system.

Development areas

The attic, bedrooms one and two.

Brief

The top floor of the house is currently open plan and the stairs arrive awkwardly in the middle. This large space makes an eccelent playroom or art studio, however with one room already given over to use as a home office this three story house has only one bedroom and the top floor could supply two additional bedrooms.

The stud partition walls will follow the layout of the lower floors creating a stair well and top landing leading to each room. Behind the stair well storage cupboards accessed from each bedroom may have the potiential to form a shared wc and shower room.

The stairs need to be returned to their original location to allow space for a top landing area to divide to each room.
